This is a Colorado course leading to a Colorado learner permit. It has no application to a UK driving licence or DVSA theory test.

Who It Is Required For

Colorado requires this course for all teenagers under 15½, and it is the only online option available to anyone under 16. Over-16s have alternative routes.

Completion Is Reported Straight to the DMV

This is the practical advantage over a generic online course. On completion your details are entered into the Colorado DMV database, so you can sit the written test and collect your learner permit without submitting paperwork yourself.

Course Content

Ten chapters covering driver responsibility, human factors, natural forces acting on a vehicle, signs and road markings, vehicle systems, defensive driving, sharing the road and accident prevention, alcohol and drugs, licensing and vehicle codes, and earning a licence. Every section ends with a practice test that can be retaken without limit, and a mock DMV test closes the course.

It works on a phone, tablet or computer, and progress carries across devices.

Classroom Alternative

Coastline also runs in-person classroom drivers ed in Colorado, currently limited to the Arvada and Littleton areas. If you are within reach of either and would prefer a taught class, that is a separate booking on the provider's site.

Provider Licensing

Coastline Academy holds Colorado DMV certificate 9906, which is what makes this course count toward the state requirement.
