European or Brazilian? Decide First
This matters more in Portuguese than in almost any other language. European and Brazilian Portuguese differ in pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and even the pronouns used in everyday speech — European Portuguese reduces unstressed vowels heavily, making it noticeably harder for beginners to parse.

Exam and Residency Requirements
