In the United Kingdom, there are several types of construction safety courses that are available to individuals who are interested in working in the construction industry or related field. These courses are intended to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills they need to work safely and comply with regulations in the construction industry.
Examples of Construction Safety Courses in the UK
Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) which is a qualification that demonstrates that an individual has achieved a level of knowledge of health, safety, and environmental issues within the construction industry. CSCS Card holders are trained and assessed, which include general health and safety, and test to demonstrate that they have the knowledge and understanding to work safely on a construction site.
NEBOSH
NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) offers construction-related health and safety qualifications. The most common NEBOSH course for the construction industry is the NEBOSH Construction Certificate (NCC) which covers the main legal requirements for health, safety, welfare and environmental issues that arise during construction project.
IOSH
IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) offers several training programs for construction safety management, such as IOSH Managing safely in construction, this course provide individuals with the knowledge to identify and manage the risks associated with construction work and to promote the health, safety and welfare of those on site.
CITB
Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) which is aimed at those who are responsible for site management and safety, and covers health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, legal requirements, and good practice.
