CITB Health and Safety Awareness Course in Glasgow

This one day Health and Safety Awareness (HSA) course is designed to aid the understanding of potential hazards the construction worker may face on site. It provides a practical summary of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues. It identifies the delegate’s responsibilities for looking after themselves and others, outlines the employer’s duties and explains what should be done if the worker thinks that anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk.

The course is an ideal foundation for those wishing to obtain an industry site card. It is the first step in obtaining the CSCS Green Labourer Card.

The course provides health and safety awareness and is endorsed by Build UK as standard training for all operatives on site.

Delegates must bring photographic ID on the day of the course. Where identification is not provided, attendance will be refused.

Course Duration

1 Day - delegates are required to complete the full day (7.5 hours) to be eligible for certification.

Who Should Attend the CITB Health and Safety Awareness Course?

The CITB Health and Safety Awareness course is aimed at those who have entered or are about to enter, the construction and civil engineering industry as a member of the workforce, to help them understand the potential hazards that they face at work on site.

Aims and Objectives

The CITB Health and Safety Awareness course aims to ensure that individuals understand their responsibilities regarding:

  • Why they are carrying out their identified duties.
  • What is expected of them while on site. 
  • How they contribute to the safety of the workplace.

Assessment

For a delegate to obtain certification for this course they must pass the end of course HSA examination.

The examination is a multiple choice question paper consisting of 25 questions. Delegates must obtain 83% or more in order to pass the examination.

The examination lasts 30 minutes and must be completed within this time. This is a closed book exam.

Certification

On successful completion of the end of course examination delegates will receive a CITB Health and Safety Awareness certificate.

Progression

This CITB Health and Safety Awareness course is an ideal introduction for obtaining a basic understanding of health and safety duties and responsibilities and becoming aware of hazards and risks on site.

The CITB Health and Safety Awareness course is the first step towards a CSCS Labourers Card (Green Card) or a natural progression would be the Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course.

Existing site managers, agents, surveyors and persons holding positions of managerial control should attend the Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course.
