This is a 5 day SMSTS course delivered by an approved trainer. The course is delivered on Zoom video conferencing software - you can join on any mobile device or computer.
Courses start at 8.30am and finish at 4pm each day.
After purchasing your course, you will be able to login to your account and view everything you need to know for the course.
Upon completing the course you will receive your official CITB SMSTS Certificate which is valid for 5 years.

Who is the SMSTS Course For?
We’ve designed the Site Manager course for construction industry professionals, including project managers, site managers and supervisors, business owners and clients.
The course will help site managers to:
- Manage health and safety on site in accordance with current and relevant legal provisions and within the context of their role
- Develop an understanding of accountability and how delegate responsibility for site health, safety and welfare
- Recognise that a safe site is efficient, economical, productive site
The key learning outcomes covered by the SMSTS course are as follows:
- Managing on-site safety in accordance with the law.
- Managing on-site safety in the context of your management or supervisory role.
- Developing an understanding of your responsibilities for site health, safety, and welfare.
- Recognising that a safe site is efficient, economical, and productive.
Upon completion of this module, course members should be able to:
- Understand and describe the general background of health and safety legislation
- Understand the various roles played by enforcing authorities
- Understand the requirement for consultation with employees
- Describe the responsibilities and duties of those concerned with the implementation of health and safety legislation
- Recognise their legal, moral and social obligations to maintain a healthy and safe site in the context of risks at work and welfare standards
- Understand the roles that others have for health and safety at work, e.g. clients, designers, contractors and subcontractors
Course Structure
There are Plenty of Discussions, Case Studies, Group Exercises and Quizzes
This five-day classroom course covers the following topics:
- The Health and Safety at Work Act and various Regulation.
- CDM Regulations 2015.
- Site set-up.
- Risk assessments and method statements.
- Working at height.
- The health and safety implications of working with scaffolding, electricity, excavations, demolition, and confined spaces.
- Any recent changes in accepted working practices and behavioural safety.
- Changes in accepted working practices.
Results
We have a 99% First Time Pass Rate - Excellent Results
Results - You will find out immediately if you have passed.
Certificate - You will receive your certificate within 7-10 days from the CITB.
Required Pass Mark - You need 80% to pass your multiple choice test.
Exam Resit - You have 90 days to resit your exam as long as you score over 70% on your test.
Project Work - all learners will also need to complete an assignment to pass this course. Your trainer will guide you through this on the course.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, however, delegates are advised to:
- Hold or be about to hold the role of Site Manager.
- Have previous Health & Safety Knowledge is recommended.
- Those without previous health and safety management experience are recommended to sit the two day SSSTS course.
- Be competent in written and spoken English necessary for operating efficiently at site management level.

Additional Information
- Computers or Laptops with a camera are the best choice.
- If your computer does not have a webcam, you can also use your mobile.
- If joining with a mobile device, you will need a 2nd device for the multiple choice test - 1 device for the test and the other to be the camera.

For short courses a completion certificate is available at the end of the course. You can screenshot this or print it out to confirm completion of the training.
For accredited courses a certificate will be sent directly to you from the appropriate awarding body.
To join online courses, delegates have to log in via a link provided through a computer or laptop with a camera, screen, microphone and access to the internet.
