This one day course highlights the moral, legal and financial reasons for good health and safety leadership. It offers guidance on the key areas to focus on to make a difference and how leaders can become better advocates and influencers in relation to health and safety.
The syllabus for the course covers:
- What health and safety leadership means
- The moral, legal and financial reasons for good health and safety leadership
- The links between health and safety leadership and culture
- What the different leadership styles are
- How human failures can impact performance and culture
- The HSE’s model of effective health and safety leadership
- How leaders can build effective relationships with the workforce
We aim to ensure that all of our courses are engaging and provide real world examples that you can use to develop your learning, by applying what you learn to your own organisation.
NEBOSH Assessment
The HSL1 assessment will be in the form of reflective statements. Showing how the delegate’s knowledge, skills and behaviours may have both positive and negative effects on health and safety performance in their organisation.
Delegates will also need to make a commitment to a leadership intervention that will improve health and safety management within their sphere of workplace influence.
There are no entry requirements for this NEBOSH certificate.

Online Assessments
Where permitted by awarding and certificating bodies, we have included assessments within the learning platform. This means that selected qualifications from our range of IOSH e-learning, iAS, NEBOSH e-learning, and Approved Asbestos Awareness e-learning courses are able to be completed fully online.
Technical Support
Our technical support team are based in the UK and can be contacted via telephone and email during UK office hours for any issues or questions about our in-house developed software.
Tutor Support
Our NEBOSH and IOSH courses have expert tutor support available, should you have any issues developing your understanding of part of the course you are able to contact one of our tutors for assistance. Our tutors have been providing NEBOSH and IOSH training courses for over 28 years and are well equipped to help you if you get stuck at any point during your course.
Progress Tracking
All of our health and safety e-learning courses come with inbuilt progress tracking. For short courses like awareness courses, this may be in the form of a percentage bar that shows how far through the course you are, and for longer courses like NEBOSH certificates each unit will have its own progress bar. This allows you to see how much of the learning material you have covered, whether it’s for a 15 minute course, or a 110 hour course.
