Stress Is the Reason to Use a Native Tutor
Written Russian does not mark which syllable is stressed, and stress changes vowel pronunciation substantially. There is no rule to learn — you acquire it word by word, from someone correcting you. No textbook or app solves this.
Professional Teacher or Community Tutor?
Professional teachers earn the higher rate on grammar. Six cases changing nouns, adjectives and pronouns, plus a verb system built on aspect rather than tense, are where self-study attrition is highest. A qualified teacher can identify which case you consistently misuse and drill that specific thing.
Community tutors are the better value for stress, pronunciation and conversation volume once the grammar is in place.
